Automated Vulnerability Evaluation for Risks of Terrorism (AVERT)

Abstract

NUCLEAR PHYSICAL SECURITY The Department of Defense has a requirement to utilize a standardized approach for Modeling and Simulation analysis to assist in risk management, determining system vulnerabilities and choosing potential upgrades at nuclear weapon-based facilities and installations. AVERT (Automated Vulnerability Evaluation for Risks of Terrorism) is the current commercial off-the-shelf product undergoing software Verification, Validation and Accreditation (VV&A) to determine its feasibility of use in the DoD environment. Both the Air Force and Navy will utilize this product to determine vulnerabilities.
