Determination of Parameters in an Empirical Function for Build-Up Factors for Various Photon Energies

Abstract

In the computation of gamma-ray attenuation, It is desired to use a simple expression for build-up factors. In this note a simple analyticalexpression was used for Dose Build-up Factors from a radioactive Isotropic point source. The parameters of the expression were determined by the method of "least squares" to obtain an optimum fit to experimental data for build-up factors for aluminum at various photon energies.
