PHASE DISTORTION IN HIGH FREQUENCY TRANSISTOR AMPLIFIERS

Abstract

An analysis of phase distortions occurring in high frequency transistor amplifiers resulting from the application of automaic gain control is presented. The analysis is based on the expression for the current gain of the amplifier. Verification of the theory is made by comparing calculated and measured phase shifts in single amplifiers and a receiving system. The problems of choosing the most suitable type of automtic gain control system, and transistor, based on a minimum phase distortion criteria are also considered.
