FLAME INHIBITION RESEARCH

Abstract

A temperature profile was measured on the spherical stoichiometric methane-oxygen-argon flame system whose composition structure was reported in TG 331-2. The diffusion coefficient of the system A-H2 (trace) was measured at atmospheric pressure over the range 300-1070 K. An analysis was made of the effect of added HBr on fluxes and rates on the stoichiometric methane flame. This indicated that a significant fraction of the reaction occurred on the surface of the ball. The principal effect of the added HBr appears to be the shifting of the methane reaction to appreciably higher temperatures.
