ASSESSMENT OF 9310 STEEL FOR CARBURIZED COMPONENTS IN M14 RIFLES

Abstract

The hardenability, microstructure and V-notch Charpy impact properties of SAE 9310 steel were evaluated. The results were compared with those of 8620 steel, and recommendations are made regarding the use of the 9310 steel for carburized components for critical service applications.
