ENGINEERING AND PRODUCTIZATION OF AN INTEGRATED FAMILY OF BACKWARD WAVE OSCILLATORS

Abstract

Research was continued on a family of electronically tuned, broadband backward wave oscillator tubes. Analysis of band 1, 6 and 8 tubes w ich have completed life tests are given. This analysis incl des design changes which were incorporated in the tubes to improve life performance. Band 1 manufacturing changes are described which result in a tube with better transient frequency behavior and improved operation in high temperature environments. Also, twelve items of general manufacturing improvement which a ply to all bands are described.
