THERMAL STRESSES AND DEFLECTIONS IN RECTANGULAR PANELS. PART 2. THE ANALYSIS OF RECTANGULAR PANELS WITH THREE-DIMENSIONAL HEAT INPUTS

Abstract

The linear thermal stress problem of a rectangular plate subjected to arbitrary three-dimensional heating is solved. Analytic solutions for the determination of deflections and stresses are presented for several types of boundary conditions. A digital computer program is developed which , starting with hear transfer, material, and geometry data, yields a numerical evaluation of transient temperatures, quasi-static deflections, and stresses.
