TUNGSTEN AND ROCKET MOTORS

Abstract

The investigation was continued on the use of tungsten in solid propellant rocket motors and involves two main areas of interest. The first area, tungsten erosion, is being studied under simulated exhaust conditions by means of a specially constructed plasma arc erosion apparatus. The second area deals with the effects of thermal shock on tungsten and includes an experimental study and theoretical analysis of the problem .
