GEM CONTROL SYSTEMS STUDY

Abstract

Study of GEM control systems continued. Six equations of motion were applied to peripheral jet vehicles. Surface effects of normal waves and two- dimensional wake were simulated on flat surfaces. Air moving equipment was simulated. These simulations were considered sufficient for specifying control systems. Control simulations gave the pilots good command of vehicle motion. Pilot read out was insufficient for the pilot to sense motion. Flight tests were made in a test vehicle with various control systems.
