IMPROVEMENTS OF RADIAC SET AN/PDR-58(XN-1)

Abstract

An experimental program was conducted to improve the neutron energy response of the neutron scintillation detector of the AN/PDR-58 (XN-1) Neutron Survey Meter. The final neutron detector developed very closely approximates the mrem/hr per unit neutron flux for neutron energies from 0.025 ev to 15 Mev as specified in NBS Handbook 63. In addition, the final detector has a much higher over-all sensitivity.
