A NOTE ON THE USE OF THE MOON AND PASSIVE SATELLITES FOR LONG DISTANCE COMMUNICATION
Abstract
A reliable and economical system of world wide teletype communication could be developed, based upon the reflection of radio signals from the Moon. The system would be able to provide about eight standard teletype channels for about 5 hours operation per day and would be a useful supplement to existing HF radio circuits. When artificial passive satellites become available, as is expected in a few years, these can also be used and will enable the number of working hours per day to be increased, and transmission delays to the antipodes to be eliminated.
