ADVANCED THRUST CHAMBER FOR SPACE MANEUVERING PROPULSION. TASKS II AND III - THRUST CHAMBER SEGMENT EVALUATIONS - MATERIALS AND PROCESSES

Abstract

Materials and processes developed and used to fabricate segments of a toroidal aerospike thrust chamber are presented. A brief design description is given of solid-wall and tube-wall hot-firing segments and of non-firing structural test segments using rib and honeycomb material for strength and rigidity. The materials used include OFHC copper, nickel 200, CRES 347, and Inconel 718. The processes described include electrodeposition, electrodischarge machining, brazing, and welding. (Author)
