LESSONS LEARNED, HEADQUARTERS, 9TH LOGISTICAL COMMAND (B), KORAT, THAILAND

Abstract

The 9th Log Comd (B) long range objectives are as follows: (1) Place in-country pre-D-Day a 30 day stockage of all classes of supply for D plus 30 deployments. (2) Buildup the logistics troops in Thailand now necessary to prepare the base to receive the combat forces. (3) Provide the necessary control elements and components planning to develop an operational logistics system. (4) Improve the lines of communication to handle TOE post-D-Day traffic densities. A means of relieving this problem would be to open the Bangkok By- Pass Extension to Korat as a military road as rapidly as possible. Make all preparations now for installation of the tactical pipeline from Don Muang to Korat. As a minimum, installing footings and culverts along the trace should be accomplished as soon as possible to reduce construction time post-D-Day. (5) Develop the necessary discharge facilities in the vicinity of Sattahip as soon as possible.
