SOME GENERAL RESULTS FOR THE N-PORT

Abstract

A rectangular transfer matrix for the n-port network is developed here. Considered is a device so used that a p-port is transformed into a q-port. Its rectangular transfer matrix has all the interconnection properties of usual transfer matrices, provided the matrices multiplied are conformable (this can also be expressed in circuit terms). Standard tests for reciproci ty and losslessness are shown to be applicable to the generalized transfer matrix with some modifi cation. The single frequency decompositions of Kurss and Youla for the 2n-port are shown to be valid for the n-port.
