A FORTRAN PROGRAM TO CALCULATE A BALLISTIC MISSILE TRAJECTORY FROM BURN OUT TO IMPACT

Abstract

This computer program computes a ballistic trajectory from burn out or any point thereafter to impact. It assumes point mass and a spherical earth. The program takes into account air resistance, the variation of the gravitational and centrifugal field with altitude, and earth's rotation. It uses a system of co ordinates (X, Y, and Z) rigidly connected with the rotating earth. The computer program is written in FORTRAN II and an autocoder deck has been compiled. The program is run on the IBM 1410 computer. It is being adapted for use on the IBM 1620 computer for use by the Army.
