EQUIVALENCE OF INFORMATION PATTERNS AND ESSENTIALLY DETERMINATE GAMES

Abstract

A necessary and sufficient condition is derived for the equivalence of information patterns in general games. Calling a general game essentially determinate if it has an equilibrium point in pure strategies for every possible payoff function, a necessary and sufficient condition for essential determinateness is derived in terms of the information pattern.
