AN INVESTIGATION OF THE FEASIBILITY OF PLACING TIMER MECHANISM SHAFTS PERPENDICULAR TO THEIR AXIS OF SPIN

Abstract

In the first part of this investigation the feasibility of constructing a timer mechanism with its gear axes perpendicular to the axis of the projectile is considered. It is found that the potential advantages of this arrangement may not be great enought to warrant solving the practical problems that arise with its use. The second part of this investigation is concerned with the friction torques of conventionally oriented mechanisms. (Author)
