Lessons Learned, Headquarters, 29th Civil Affairs Company

Abstract

The 29th Civil Affairs Company was operational for the entire reporting period (89 days). The unit was engaged in its primary mission of providing civil affairs support to the I Corps Tactical Zone (ICTZ) Senior Advisor for tactical operations and pacification and development. On 9 March 1970, the company was released from assignment to the 1st Logistical Command and reassigned to XXIV Corps. The same date marked the release of the unit from operational control of the Commanding General III Marine Amphibious Force (III MAF) and placement of the unit under the operational control of Commanding General XXIV Corps. As a result of these changes in the command and control structure the 29th Civil Affairs Company is now able to accomplish administrative, logistical, and operational tasks with minimum delay and increased efficiency.
