HIGH-PERFORMANCE HELICOPTER PROGRAM: PHASE II

Abstract

The results of a flight research program to investigate high-speed loaded and unloaded rotors are presented. The program is an extension of the high-performance UH-1B flight research program reported in TREC 63-42. The compound flight research helicopter, instrumentation, and test program are described and the test results are discussed. Major modifications to the basic high-performance helicopter involved the addition of two continental J69-T9 jet engines, a controllable incidence wing and controls and elevator-horizontal stabilizer changes.
