Weight Distribution of the Quadratic Residue (71,35) Code

Abstract

The hand calculation of the weight distribution of the (71,35) quadratic residue code is briefly described. This calculation falls into two parts. The first part consists in evaluating the 10x10 determinant given by the power-moment identities, using properties of Van der Monde determinants. The second part of the calculation consists in reducing the six solutions obtained in the first part to one solution. This reduction is accomplished by group theory analysis.
