STRUCTURAL SURVEY OF PRIVATE MINING PROPERTIES

Abstract

Mine structures were surveyed to document any physical changes resulting from the Shoal event. Thirteen privately owned mining properties within a 20-mile radius of ground zero had been previously selected by the United States Bureau of Mines (USBM) as susceptible to potential damage from this test. Three additional mines, outside the 20mile radius, were also examined at the owners' requests. Minor rock falls, about one cubic foot each, were observed at two properties. These falls caused no damage, and no damage which could be attributed to the Shoal event was observed at any of the properties. A detailed report of each property is contained in the appendix.
