SOME TABLES OF THE NEGATIVE BINOMIAL DISTRIBUTION AND THEIR USE

Abstract

This Memorandum presents tables giving the values of the individual terms of the negative binomial distribution for 130 pairs of parameter values in Part 1. Part 2, giving the cumulated terms of the same distributions, is in a form directly usable for solving problems which require the determination of probabilities of the occurrence of not more than x events. The negative binomial distributions is described and illustrative examples are given which use this distribution as a tool in the study of demand for replacement parts. The references indicate that the negative binomial has been used in a wide variety of applications to biological research.
