PALLET BOLT DEVELOPMENT

Abstract

A study was undertaken to develop a bolt and nut assembly for the New Military Standard 40 inches x 48 inches Wood Pallet, and to test various bolt designs in order that authoritative information be available for recommendations for pallet bolt specifications. Two of the fifteen bolt designs tested were found suitable for pallet construction. A nut design was also found acceptable. It is recommended that additional development be undertaken to determine the optimum design of the two acceptable basic forms, in order that a final choice can be made.
