Abstract

Topics discussed were: Somatic Effects from Blast, Thermal, Acute Radiation and Chronic Radiation; Genetic Effects on Children of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Ionizing Radiation and Chromosomal Changes, and Genetic Studies of Drosophila in Mice and Humans; and Psychosocial Effects including Psychosocial Response in Hiroshima. Social Impact on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and Attitudinal implications for other populations. The conference was sponsored by the Defense Atomic Support Agency under the auspices of the New York Academy of Sciences. Documentation of subsequent conferences on the same subject are planned.
