HYDROGEN BRITTLENESS IN NONFERROUS METALS

Abstract

The book is devoted to problems concerning the interaction of hydrogen with metals, and the harmful effects this has on the properties of the metal. Considerable attention is given to processes that take place during the hydrogen-metal interaction, the state of hydrogen in liquid and solid solution, and the interaction of hydrogen with dislocations and other structural imperfections of metals. The effect of hydrogen on the structure and properties of the following metals are discussed: Be, Mg, Al, U, Ti, Zr, V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo. W. Pt, Cu, Ag, Au. Special attention is devoted to the hydrogen brittleness of Ti alloys.
