On the Problem of Equal-Ripple Power Pattern Synthesis

Abstract

The report on antenna array pattern synthesis deals with the approximation of power patterns rather than the usual problem of approximating field patterns. After a qualitative comparison of the different characteristics an optimum approximation is formulated in general terms. The possibility of finding an exact 'equal ripple' solution is discussed, and an approximate 'equal ripple' solution is offered as an approach to this as yet unsolved mathematical problem.
