A SIMPLIFIED WEAPONS EVALUATION MODEL

Abstract

A description of a weapons evaluation model and computer program developed to simplify and shorten computation time in solving problems of nonnuclear weapons evaluation. The model assumes a gaussian aiming error distribution and a rectangular target area. Two types of damage functions are considered, corresponding to two different types of weapon-target effects: a fragment-sensitive target (one in which the major damage mechanism is due to fragments) and an impact-sensitive target (one in which there is a definite geometric figure that must be impacted by the weapon). In this revision to RM- 5677-PR (January 1969) some refinements were added to the program to make it more efficient in terms of time, accuracy, and ease of use.
