Radar Reflection Coefficients from a Plasma Gradient Including the Effects of Electron-Neutral and Electron-Ion Collisions

Abstract

An analytical expression is obtained for the radar reflection coefficient from a one-dimensional plasma. The formulation includes the effects of electron-neutral and electron-ion collisions and is applicable for either an exponential variation of the electron density with position or a variation of the form (n sub e)(x) = (n sub infinity)/(1 + e sup(-x/d)).
