Historical Analysis of the United States Army: 1898 to 1916

Abstract

The report presents an historic analysis of the nation and the United States Army for the period 1898-1916. Four wars are described and analyzed as perceived by the professional military, the political leadership, and the civil body political: War with Spain; Philippine Insurrection; Boxer Rebellion; and Mexican Punitive Expedition. Tasks and activities of the peacetime Army are also analyzed: Civil disorders; Disaster relief; Reform and reorganization; and Enrichment of professionalism.
