A DIGITAL RECORDING SYSTEM FOR LORAN-C

Abstract

A method for digitally recording the readings of a Collins LORAN-C Mk LR 101 Receiver on punched paper tape is described. The various advantages of automatically recording LORAN-C data are examined and it is shown how, with frequent sampling, computer smoothing techniques can be used to reduce significantly the effect of atmospheric noise. Instructions for operating the SACLANT ASW Centre's Digital Recording System for LORAN-C are included as an appendix.
