ALTITUDE DEVELOPMENTAL TESTING OF THE J-2 ROCKET ENGINE IN PROPULSION ENGINE TEST CELL (J-4) (TESTS J4-1801-37 AND 38)

Abstract

Eight firings and two partial transition tests of the J-2 rocket engine were accomplished. Each of these firings was in support of the S-V/S-IVB stage engine to investigate engine start transients for first burn and restart simulations. The partial transition tests were to evaluate thrust chamber temperature effects on the engine start transients. All objectives were successfully met with a total accumulated firing duration of 156.6 sec.
