One-Dimensional Wave Propagation in Bilinear Media
Abstract
An analytic investigation of one-dimensional shock wave propagation in bilinear hysteretic materials is described. Governing equations are solved by the method of characteristics, and solutions are obtained in the form of infinite series. The bilinear model is used to approximate the free-field response of a bilinear model may be used with reasonable accuracy to approximate the response of soils subjected to airblast-type loading.
