Research Engineering and Support for Tropical Communications

Abstract

The report summarizes the results of the technical and scientific research effort on radio communications in the tropical environment. The work included studies of HF ionospheric propagation and prediction; MF and HF atmospheric radio noise; HF and VHF propagation through tropical terrain including forests (jungle), paddy fields, and mountains; and modeling and measurement of the directivity patterns of antennas emersed in forests.
