System 621B User Equipment Definition and Experiment Program for the U.S. Army

Abstract

In order to solidify confidence in the predicted performance of the System 621B receiver, this report outlines the tradeoffs that were performed to determine the best field test, for the U.S. Army, of a representative single-channel receiver which would use a helicopter as a test vehicle. Options have been defined including a choice of single-channel receiver and the addition of a real time navigation capability. Also the details of the design and test plan for the selected field test are given, as well as the requirement for the test range. This effort was done in sufficient range and depth to allow the immediate initiation of the test hardware procurement and/or fabrication.
