Shock Mitigating Seat Single Impact Program

Abstract

This letter report describes the progression of a task aimed at conducting a series of single impact shock tests on a selection of shock mitigating seats that are or could be used on board Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) high speed craft (HSC). The R and D initiative is aimed at reducing the risk of acute and chronic injury topersonnel serving in small high speed military crafts by seeking to improve the state of the art for modeling, simulation, testing, and evaluation of shock mitigation seat technologies. This report describes the work done to date in developing test capabilities and protocols, and includes the evolution of the test protocol from the initial concept to the final version.
