Standard Operating Procedure for Accelerated Corrosion Testing at ARL

Abstract

This guide serves as the standard operating procedure for performing accelerated corrosion tests at the US Army Research Laboratory (ARL). A scribing procedure, starting with acceptable cleaning methods, is defined. Corrosion mechanisms such as creepage from scribe and blistering in the field are described together, with the appropriate procedures for rating these mechanisms as they appear on samples. Finally, daily and periodic reporting requirements are expressed by this method.
