Cost Effective Airpower For The Long War Against Violent Extremist Organizations

Abstract

This research identifies a more cost effective way to employ airpower in small conflicts and specifically Operation INHERENT RESOLVE (OIR). The goal is not to recommend replacement of or reduction in F-35s, but rather to pinpoint specific areas where the United States Air Force (USAF) can realize operational cost savings to help ease the financial burden of more expensive modern weapons systems.
