Frequency Discriminator Based Phased Noise Filter (PNF) for Ultra-Clean Local Oscillator (LO)/Clock, Evolving at Commercial Timescales
Abstract
University of California, Davis investigated a fully integratable phase noise filter (PNF) to achieve ultra-low noise across a wide band for common modules and array systems, which has the capability to evolve at commercial timescales. Different phase noise cancellation techniques have been investigated and realized in analog and digital domains. Two PNF categories were examined and developed: linear PNF and nonlinear PNF. Within each category, the university demonstrated different versions by continuously improving the phase noise.
