Implementing Advanced Magnetic Gradiometric Algorithms within Geosoft's Oasis Montaj Software Platform

Abstract

This project developed a suite of tools within Geosoft's Oasis montaj software package for processing magnetic gradiometric data collected with optically pumped atomic magnetometers developed by ONR for use on unmanned underwater vehicles designed for mine countermeasures. Outside of standard mine countermeasures, these systems are seeing increased usage on searching underwater munitions response sites and these software tools will aid a larger audience in processing this data. Increased usage of magnetic gradiometer systems at underwater munitions response sites is very likely in the next few years. It is expected that increased access to cutting edge detection and classification algorithms will be important to fully leverage the capabilities of these sensor packages to detect proud and buried targets while reducing false alarms detected acoustically, thereby increasing remediation speed and lowering the costs associated with munitions response.
