Low-Cost, High-Throughput 3D Pulmonary Imager Using Hyperpolarized Contrast Agents and Low-Field MRI
Abstract
This report covers the first year of the no-cost extension period. Overall, this is the fourth year of the project performance. During the indicated period of performance, we have focused our activities on all three specific aims. With regards to Aim #1 (129Xe polarizer development), we have been working on testing the 129Xe automated hyperpolarizer: to that goal, we have performed extensive tests of all key components of this device as we reported earlier and also focused on automation and integration completion. With regards to propane hyperpolarization, we have focused our efforts on additional tests and investigating the approaches to improve the quality of hyperpolarized propane gas. The remaining efforts will primarily focus on testing this device with the 0.35 T MRI scanner. With respect to the delivery and installation of 0.35 T MRI scanner, we have been engaged with the vendor to ensure that the delivered MRI scanner will be customized to our needs to meet the specifications for scan speed and resolution.
