Aberdeen Proving Ground M-Range Survey Report

Abstract

Three different collection processes of the APG M-RANGE were performed to form an accurate representation of one section of the small arms firing range. They included collection from a man wearable system using a real-time kinematic (RTK) global positioning system (GPS) and ground-base photogrammetry; drone-based aerial survey leveraging RTK GPS and photogrammetric software; LiDAR data stemming from a FARO-S-70 sensor. This report outlines the three processes involved, provides accuracy metrics, and provides estimated man-hours spent to perform the collection process along with tools and best practices used to visualize the final scenes in Unity.
