A Limited Evaluation of Low Cost Commercial GPS Navigation Systems (Project Have FLEX)

Abstract

This report documents results of the limited evaluation of low cost commercial GPS navigation systems. Testing was requested by the USAF TPS, Edwards AFB, CA. The lead developmental test organization was the Air Force Test Center, Edwards AFB, California. The executing test organization was Class 18B of the USAF Test Pilot School, Edwards AFB. Testing was conducted from 1 to 18 March 2019 and comprised of 2 ground test hours and 17.6 flight test hours. The overall test objective was to investigate the accuracy and utility of low cost, commercial GPS navigation systems under a variety of flight conditions. All test objectives were met.
