Abstract

As a solider in the armed services, I always knew there was a chance that our Unit would be called to duty. We trained very diligently and were always preparing for the day that our country would call us in arms. I was assigned to an engineering unit. Our mission was to lay in-land petroleum distribution system. Therefore, we always knew if anything happened around the world our Unit would be an indispensable part of the Army's overall mission. We felt ready! Trained! However, nothing prepares you for the emotional trauma that hits you when your number is called.
