A Limited Evaluation of the Satellite Control Network On-Orbit Test Asset (SPHINX) (Project HAVE TACOS)

Abstract

This report documents results of the limited evaluation of the Satellite Control Network On-Orbit Test Asset (SPHINX). Testing was requested by the United States Space Force Satellite Control Network program office. The lead developmental test organization was the Air Force Test Center, Edwards AFB, California. The executing test organization was Class 20B of the United States Air Force Test Pilot School, working in partnership with The Aerospace Corporation, El Segundo, CA. Testing was conducted from 08 March 2021 to 19 March 2021 and comprised of 8 sorties totaling 37.8 flight test hours. The overall test objective was to demonstrate the SPHINX payloads utility as an airborne surrogate test satellite for ground station testing. All test objectives were met.
