Establishing Fluid Dynamics Scales Critical to Dynamic Interface Applications and their Impact on Handling Qualities

Abstract

The goal of this effort is to develop a better understanding of the relationship between the length and time scales typically present in the disturbance fields experienced by Naval aviators (i.e. ship airwakes, wing wakes etc.) and rotorcraft flight dynamics and flying qualities when thefully-interacting fluid dynamics of the disturbance and rotor wake and flight mechanics are accounted for.
