Maritime Considerations for the U.S. in the Western Pacific

Abstract

This paper begins by addressing traditional theories of maritime strategy. It then looks at the current regional context of the Western Pacific, to include the stated strategies of the United States and China. Finally, it makes recommendations for how the US should use strategic theory in developing its own maritime strategy for the region.
