Fuel Accountability in Collapsible Fabric Tanks, Accuracy and Precision Measurements and Improved Reporting Procedures

Abstract

The Army desires to calculate the accuracy and precision of the volumetric measurement of fuel contained within collapsible fabric tanks (CFTs) using both procedures currently employed in the field and alternative measurement techniques that could improve fuel accountability and help to resolve reporting challenges for both capitalized and non-capitalized (Army owned) bulk fuel storage and distribution sites worldwide. SwRI tested different design concept flow meters during fuel transfers between CFTs at its dedicated facility in San Antonio, TX.
