Non-Isocyanate Polyurethane Platform for Sustainable and Advanced Rain-Erosion Resistant Coatings

Abstract

Design and develop isocyanate free customized building blocks for PU using cyclic carbonate/amine chemistry. Develop two coating systems that meet technical and environmental requirements of SON 16 02.1. Two component high solid coating systems (2K-HS-NIPU) 2.100% Solid UV Curable Coating systems (UV NIPU). Test and evaluate these coatings to demonstrate performance and environmental benefits. Identify best prototypes for extensive evaluation, including Rain Erosion Testing at WPAFB, in comparison with commercial benchmark (CAAPCO C W4) Develop a roadmap for strategic transition plan by cooperative development with industry partners and end user DoD sites.
