Tests on Experimental Unit Projection Plan Position Indicator Repeater, Model VG-2, Serial No X2, Type CG-55AFL

Abstract

On 4 September 1944, the experimental Model VG-2, Serial No. X2, Projection Plan Position Indicator Repeater, made by the General Electric Company of Bridgeport, Connecticut was delivered to this Laboratory for type test. In general, the electrical performance of the VG-2 meets Naval requirements and indicates good design. However, considerable improvement should be made in the mechanical construction. Particular attention is called to the optical assembly. The dark trace cathode ray tube is not readily accessible and its replacement requires a difficult task of realignment of the optical system.
