ONR Short Pulse Research, Evaluation and non-SWaP Demonstration for C-sUAS Study (OSPRES) Grant

Abstract

This final technical report covers the OSPRES Grant program, developed to execute high-risk, high-payoff efforts that address elementary gaps to achieving a modular, scalable and electronically steerable high power microwave (HPM) based defense system for the counter UAS mission, with focus on the short-pulse high-average-power space, as well as the responsivity of the target to RF stimuli, while educating the next generation of pulsed power scientists/engineers. The scope spans HPM engagement modeling and simulation, RF coupling, source system/sub-system development (prime power, optical/electrical switches, lasers, pulse forming networks, antenna design and thermal management).
